The Mikoyan MiG-29 is a jet fighter aircraft designed in the former Soviet Union for an air superiority role to counter the then emerging F-15 and F-16 fighters of the U.S.
Known by NATO as the 'Fulcrum' it entered service with the Soviet Air Force in 1983, and after the break up of the Soviet Union still remains in use by the Russian Air Force as well as in many other nations.
