The C.200 "Saetta" (Lightning) was the first Italian fighter with fully retractable landing gear to be constructed to monocoque design principles. From 1940 onwards the "Saetta" was used in the Mediterranean Theatre and in the summer of 1941 was also used on the Eastern Front.
