The Marder (Marden) has been for 40 years the main combat vehicle of the German Panzergrenadiere. Constant improvements have kept it up to date with the Bundeswehr requirements. The latest version, Marder 1 A5, includes a protection against nearly all existing antitank mines. The armament includes a 20 mm quick firing gun, an MG3 machine gun under turret and a Milan anti-tank guided missile launcher. The rear door gives access to up to 6 panzergrenadiere. The internal setup has been reconfigured to improve blast protection. The Marder 1 A5 has been used with success in occasion of international conflicts such as KFOR (Kosovo) and ISAF (Afghanistan).
