(1860-1886) The Chebec is a vessel of 24 fire-arms. In 1750, the Count of Jouy, Antoine Louis de Rouille decided to construct 4 of these vessels. In order to excel in this endeavour, he called for the help of the engineers of Majorque, whose knowledge in the construction of ships outdid the art in those days. However, the Chebec happened to be one of the finest vessel of the 18th century. The Chebecs were well-known both as battle ships and merchants. It must be remembered that the captain Bavastro de Nice set out in a war against two English vessels at the same time in a splendid battle.
