Leonardo da Vinci spent many years of his life in Milan working as a military engineer. During this time he developed his idea of an armoured car, which is certainly among his most amazing inventions. The original idea was to create vehicles that were strong enough to carry large calibre weapons whilst protecting the occupants from enemy attacks. The idea finally failed however due to the lack of a suitable engine.
On the model, each of the 16 metal gun barrelsis elaborately moulded.
