A-6E Intruder
Dragon has produced a new twin pack of 1/144 scale aircraft. Both models are A-6E Intruders, with the first being a USMC version from VMA(AW)-533 Nighthawks and the second a Navy version from VA-115 Eagles. The form of the Intruder is captured perfectly in plastic. No detail is lost. The aircraft are differentiated by the high-definition Cartograf decals included in the set, while a comprehensive set of munitions allows the aircraft to be fitted with different bomb loads. = About A-6E Intruder = A twin-engine attack aircraft, the A-6 Intruder built by Grumman Aerospace replaced the older A-1 Skyraider. The A-6E was the definitive attack version that served with the U.S. Navy and USMC from 1971 through to 1997. A total of 445 A-6E models were built or converted from earlier models, and they had the capability of autonomously designating and dropping laser-guided bombs. Thus, they were heavily involved in the Operation Desert Storm air campaign in Iraq in 1991, forming the Navy’s primary strike platform for laser-guided munitions. Navy Intruders flew from six different carriers while the USMC operated two land-based squadrons of A-6E Intruders.
