The Tiger II has been developed from it's predecessor, the F-5A Freedom Fighter. This simple, small jet fighter was created in the late fifties for the United States´ Allies. The F-5A, supplied to a wide variety of countries, was later improved to the new “E” version, with better aerodynamics and 2 powerful engines, able to carry a higher weapons load. The U.S. Air Force became aware of the advantages of the “Tiger II” and equipped some of the “Aggressor” training-squadrons with this aircraft.
