The C635 Simoun (Sandstorm) was the most successful of the Caudron series starting from the C500 to C520 and C620. It was a very modern four seat monoplane with fixed spatted undercarriage and powered by a Renault Bengali 6Q-01/09 or /15 engine. Forty six civilian machines were built but others were updated to 635 standards. Four hundred and thirty six M (Military) models were produced for the French Air Force and fifty two for the Navy and one for the US Naval attaché in Paris. The Caudron was used for many pre war record breaking flights to all parts of the world and during WW II over one hundred were used by the Luftwaffe. As there was some in UK, I presume some were impressed into the RAF too.
