GERMAN INFANTRY WWII
Despite the poor supply situation in 1942/43, the German army was the first armyin the world to use camouflage schemes on a large scale. The camouflage shirts and jackets were printed with various patterns. The inside was often white whichmeant that during the winter months the soldiers could quickly respond to snowfall. If necessary, a camouflage jacket could be made from the strip of canvvas that every private carried with him. Due to a lack of suitable vehicles, the soldiers often went into battle mounted so as to prevent any threat to the flank by enemy infantry.
