Leonardo's swing bridge was conceived for the safety of soldiers and therefore he called them "bridges of happenstance" or "salvational bridge". It was intended to be constructed over a watercourse to open and close over the water.
The model is fully movable and it was designed by original drawings and by the historical model of the Museo della Scienza e della Tecnologia Leonoardo da Vinci in Milano.
