Fokker F.I
WORLD WAR I
The picture shows the last air fight of this German ace that took place on 23 September 1917. In an evening, about nineteen o'clock, Werner Foss flied a second mission this day. Chasing a lonely SE-5, he was trapped: his fighter was attacked by several British fighters from 56th Squadron of RFC (Royal Flying Corps) under command of McCudden, an English ace. A death air carousel started twirling. Foss succeeded in damaging McCudden's fighter, but notwithstanding he was beaten down by Arthur Rhys-Davis. So a German ace met his fate.
