The Wessex is a British evolution of the United States Helicopter H-34. It was developed for the Royal Navy towards the late fifties to create a modern anti-submarine aircraft. The most important modification was the change-over from the original radial piston engine to a turbine propulsion engine. Several dozens of Wessex are still in use with the RAF for logistical missions, which this helicopter still performs with great efficiency.
