The Stuka was the most famous of all planes used by the Germans as a dive bomber. It is instantly recognisable with its inverted gull-wings, and fixed-undercarriage. Although sturdy, accurate and very effective, the Ju-87 was vulnerable to modern fighter aircraft.
Its flaws became apparent during the Battle of Britain and required a fighter escort to operate effectively.
